I'm Alyssa, and I graduated from West Chester University in early childhood and special education. I'm also certified to teach my major. From my experiences in school and in the field, I have developed a lot of skills in teaching and tutoring. I have experience working with special needs children and preschool through elementary school age children. I'm also comfortable working with students of any age group in biology, English, literature, writing, and others, as well as any elementary school subjects. I had the opportunity to tutor students in math and reading as part of an after school program when I was a student teacher. I really enjoy tutoring because it is fun to work individually with a student and focus on their needs. I feel it's important to connect with students so I better understand their needs and interests. I also like to figure out how my student learns so that I can cater my tutoring to match their learning style. I believe students learn by doing, so I incorporate activities and hands-on learning whenever possible. When I have some free time, I like to exercise, play sports, walk my dog, watch sports, spend time with my family, try new recipes, and read.
